Tarte Matte Lip Paint First Impression/Review

Sometimes, you have friends who are obsessed with Tarte makeup, but don’t have a credit card to order their products.

Also sometimes, Tarte has a sale where you can get 8 things for $80 and your friend lets you use her credit card to order the stuff but then you pay them back so it evens out.

That’s what happened with my #bff Madi a few weeks ago – and to thank me for letting her use my credit card, she picked me up a lippie! Thanks, Mad, I love you for real and not because you have the cutest dogs on the planet (other than mine, of course.)

Madi picked me up the limited edition quick dry matte lip paint in “Festival” and I am shooketh.

The packaging is probably one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen, tbh. I can’t get over it – and Tarte has been using the same pattern on a few of their products, and it’s SO CUTE!

I’m not going to lie, it’s kinda drying, but you expect that from a matte lipstick.

I also found that the applicator was a little oddly shaped, and it’s taking me a while to really master application without colouring outside the lines a little bit.

I wore this out for dinner and drinks a few nights ago, and it didn’t last through dinner (but I mean… other than Lipsense, what lipstick does?) It didn’t all just kinda rub off, it kind of faded away gracefully, like Fefe Dobson’s music career.

It’s pretty much my perfect nude – its like a ‘my lips but better’ colour when it’s alone – a really lovely cool mauve shade.

“Festival” over concealer, where I went outside the lines a little bit but didn’t notice until now 🙂

Layered over concealer (my favourite trick to apply lipstick!) and with my fav MAC lip glass in ‘be an angel, darling’ … I think this is one of my favourite nude combos ever.

s/o to Madi for hooking a girl up. I love you.

Snap up this lippie while you still can!

Have you tried the Tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip Paints, yet? What do you think?
