What can I say – my favourite makeup-related posts to write are first impressions/reviews. I love trying new things and letting you all know how I feel!

That being said, my first two first impressions/reviews were both from Too Faced Cosmetics – The Papa Don’t Peach blush and the Love Light Prismatic Highlighter.

In case you didn’t know already, the struggle of being a broke university student is so, so real – some things I’m willing to shell out a little more cash for, and some things I’d rather run to Shopper’s (but might I just say, drugstore makeup is getting INSANELY expensive????? I don’t want to spend $25 on a DRUGSTORE foundation?????)

Yesterday I happened to run out of primer and foundation all in one. Since the only concealer I really have right now is SUPER high coverage (Hard Candy Glamoflauge) I wanted to find a concealer a little more lightweight for days that I don’t wear a full beat face (which is rare…)

I ended up picking up a primer, foundation, concealer, and a white liquid liner – I haven’t used the liner yet because it’s for more editorial looks than it is to run to the grocery store.

Here’s how I felt about the Maybelline  Master Prime Blur + Illuminate primer, the Covergirl Tru Blend foundation (shade L1) and the Nyx HD concealer:

pls excuse my disgusting nails, I work in a restaurant and for health & safety reasons I’m not allowed to have my nails done/painted.

I quite liked this primer – we’ll see how well it does keeping my makeup intact, but it made my skin REALLY glowy… it smells kind of weird but it’s not awful and something I can totally get past. (Make sure you follow my instagram so you can see how well this (and the rest of the products I used on my face) are holding up by the end of the day!)

With just the application and how glowy it made my skin I’ll give it a 4/5 for now, but we have to see how it holds up.

I don’t know how I feel about this foundation, honestly. It’s got a lighter coverage than I’m used to, which isn’t that big of a deal, but it went a few shades darker when I put it on my skin – this was the lightest shade available and it was definitely dark enough to make a sharp line between my face and neck – and it did NOT do that with the tester shade. Maybe I got a defective bottle? Either way I had to highlight my face A LOT to make this work, but I finally got it to a good shade.

I’m gonna keep trying it out, but right now I’ll give it a 3/5.

I gave this concealer two goes – the first was this morning, when I was going to the gym, and I only applied this under my eyes + did my eyebrows. It was PERFECT for that – covered my dark circles so I didn’t frighten the other gym-goers, but wasn’t super thick and bright like my Glamoflauge is. It was flawless – 5/5 for that job.

However, when I went to layer it over the foundation today, it wasn’t the coverage I was looking for, and the colour wasn’t as brightening as it was on bare skin. I ended up layering on my Hard Candy for a little more coverage but also to help lighten things up.

I think over foundation this would get maybe a 3/5 – but on it’s own I’d give it 5 stars.

I’m definitely going to keep testing these out, but so far I’m feeling kinda iffy about them all.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them?
